Botox is a neuromuscular blocking agent produced by a bacteria. Minute quantities of cosmetic grade toxin have been used since 1992 to reduce facial wrinkling.
When given in the proper locations, Botox can reduce wrinkling of the forehead, glabella (between the eyebrows), and around the eyes (crow's feet). The results of injection are predictable and very safe. The therapuetic effects last about 4 - 6 months.
Treatment requires the injection of small amounts of Botox into the muscles responsible for causing the wrinkling. Since we use hair-fine needles, any discomfort is minimal. The desired effects may take several weeks to develop.
