Many fillers are in use across the world. Most suffer from either risk of inducing allergy, risk of transmitting infection, very short term benefit, or difficulty in administration. Restylane is clearly a step forward in dermal fillers. Restylane is made out of hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance in your tissues. It is largely responsible for giving your soft tissues their 'look and feel.'
The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is synthetically prepared and chemically altered to become a gel. The gel is able to maintain its shape for a longer time than other products. The beneficial effects last for up to 8 months.
Restylane may be used to smooth most deep wrinkles and may be used to enhance the lips. For areas such as the naso-labial folds and lips (very sensitive areas), we administer nerve blocks so that there is no discomfort with the injections. The nerve blocks are similar to what you may have received at a dentists' office (but generally gentler).
